As Louis Armstrong & Billie Holiday once sang: "Do you know what it means to
miss New Orleans?"
I go twice a year and I ain't nearly satisfied.
. Galatoires (otherwise absolutely avoid Bourbon St)
. Tujagues - especially love the bar but you can have a delicious
prix fixe dinner in the great old dining room.
. Praline Connection - this is a soul food place on Frenchman's
(Fauburg Marigny) and I go specifically for Fried Pickles and just before my
return flight I buy their chocolate pralines and rum pralines to brng back
FRESH!
. Napoleon House for muffaletta (if you don't make it to Central
Grocery before they close at 5) and either a sazarac or (if the weather is
hot) a Pimms Cup.
. K-Paul's of course
. NOLA - just eat at the bar. Always fun and the others chat and
compare notes.
. Casamentos for fresh Oyster Stew or Oyster Loaf - although I gotta
say that the crab claws are fabulous.
I have many more restaurant recommendations but you are not there long
enough..
As for things to do..Royal Street for the antique shops and otherwise
Frenchmans for music and otherwise:
Just walk and walk and walk.

Thanks to all who suggested a place to meet clients near Penn Station.
Another one: I'm off to New Orleans this morning through Sunday (having a
chamber music piece premiered). Any suggestions for things to do/places to
see/where to eat while I'm there?
Gotham Rocks!
Thanks again,
Larry
