[Fredslist] Looking for some Gotham magic in Miami, Florida

My son and his fiance are getting married in Miami, FL.  The wedding is taking place at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach in January of 2013.  I am looking for a hotel recommendation for the out of town guests.  As part of that has anyone stayed at the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel?  Although I expect everyone to have a car rental, I would like the hotel to be within a mile or two of the Raleigh Hotel, if possible.  But having said that, all recommendations are welcomed as I would rather have a nicer and reasonably priced hotel than one based solely on its location to the Raleigh Hotel.  

As if this isn't enough, I am thinking of hosting a dinner the evening before the wedding.   I am needing a recommendation for nice Italian restaurant which can accommodate perhaps 50 people.  I would like one in which people can show up in shirt and slacks.  If it's modestly priced that would be a bonus.  If you have something other than Italian (because Italian seems to meet the majority of culinary peculiarities of this group) that's okay also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
