Organization

 
The Jewish Communal Fund (JCF) is a dynamic $1 billion public charity, whose mission is to facilitate and promote charitable giving for individuals and families through donor-advised funds.  Over the past decade, the Jewish Communal Fund has distributed over two billion dollars in grants to thousands of U.S.-based public charities serving needs in the U.S. and overseas.
 

Position

 

Reporting to the Executive Vice President (EVP) and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Senior Vice President (SVP) will be responsible for the direction of the following areas:  Finance, Accounting, Investments, Human Resources, Facilities, Compliance and Information Systems.  The SVP will also work closely with the EVP and the senior management team on the implementation of the organization’s Strategic Plan.

  
Responsibilities 
  
Leadership 
  
· Advise the Executive Vice President and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investments, and policy matters. 
·Serve as the management liaison to the Audit and Investment Committees and effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at Board and Committee meetings. 
· Contribute to the development of the Jewish Communal Fund’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization. 
· Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Executive Vice President informed of all critical issues. 
· Represent the organization externally, as necessary. 
  
Management 
  
· Oversee, supervise, direct, and organize the work of the finance and accounting functions and staff. 
o        Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development. 
o        Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set 
objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary 
adjustments. 
o        Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; 
set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results. 
  
Operations 
  
· Manage relationships with all external vendors. 
· Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process. 
· Ensure that the Jewish Communal Fund is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board. 
· Oversee the development of financial analysis and management reports, government filings and the annual report. 
· Manage all Information Technology projects. 
  
  
Human Resources 
  
· Work with EVP in coordinating the recruitment of staff for any open positions. 
· Serve as a liaison with the UJA Federation of NY on the administration of organizational benefits. 
· Work with the EVP on any employee disciplinary matters. 
  
Qualifications 
  
· MBA preferred, BA or BS is mandatory 
· Minimum 10 years experience in a senior management role 
· Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives 
· Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers 
· Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills 
· Self reliant and results-oriented 
· Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively 
interface with senior management, Jewish Communal Fund’s board, and staff 
  
Salary 
  
· Compensation is commensurate with experience.  Generous benefits package, including the opportunity to participate in the 403b plan.
