[Fredslist] Worker's Comp-HELP!

Hi,
I received a letter from the NY State saying I was going to be  
severely penalized because I didn't have Worker's Comp. for Aug. 10,  
2011 til present. I gave my insurance broker the necessary info (via  
email and fax) in late April to acquire Worker's Comp for me as I had  
just hired an employee the end of April. The broker didn't seem to  
know what to do and put me in contact with another woman at the  
agency. Gave her the information and thought she had taken care of it.  
WRONG! I spoke to my acct. yesterday who told me to call the broker  
ASAP and tell them I needed them to call the State Ins. Fund and bind  
the policy retroactively. I called and the company was closed for the  
holiday. Yikes...I am in a panic because I know the fines can be very  
steep! Any thoughts oh wise ones out there in my Gotham tribe??
