Hello Gotham –
I recently had the pleasure of attending “A Night at the Races” - the 17th Annual Theresa Awards Dinner which celebrates and supports the Theresa Foundation. What a fabulous event!
This wonderful foundation, and the Theresa Academy of Performing Arts, was created by Vincent and Susan Russo in memory and honor of their daughter Theresa, to support children with special needs and their families. At the Academy, children with challenges can dance, sing, act, paint and perform – all under the loving and creative eye of Susan Russo and her team.
I wish I could convey to you the joy, love and dedication I and the other Gothamites at our table witnessed, hearing about the accomplishments of this wonderful organization. (Thanks to Alan Schwartz for organizing the Gotham cadre!)
Vincent and Susan’s support of children with special needs and their families knows no bounds. They and their team provide resources, information, support and joy to so many families who don’t know where to turn. And the love and laughter in the children's and parents' faces during the presentation of the Foundation's activities, was moving and wonderful. Dante Russo did a great job on the production, and was a compelling and lively MC – alternately touching our hearts with his memories of his sister – and then cracking us up!
The honorees of the dinner this year, were Bob Policastro of Angela's House and Attorney Renée Colwill Lovelace of NAELA. There was a great silent auction, and in accordance with the theme, there were many beautiful and flamboyant hats, very fitting for a Night at the Races!
Even if you missed this event, you can support The Theresa Foundation in providing music, dance, art and drama classes at the Theresa Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA), as well as other recreation programs for children with special needs, locally and around the country.
Please visit them online at:
www.theresafoundation.org. The Foundation is most appreciative and does not take for granted any help that you can give. If you would like to know more about the Theresa Foundation, please do not hesitate to contact Vincent or Susan Russo – and keep a look out for the Golf Outing!
Thank you for a beautiful evening.
With love,
Victoria
