[Fredslist] iPads

On the amazing utility of the iPads, I happened onto this email shared by Bob Lefsetz who writes commentary mostly related to the music industry.  The sender, Kim Bullard, played keys for POCO at the height of its LP sales, and had played keys for CSN when they toured.  Upon reading it I just had to share it.

You are so right.. we recently had to take a charter through some bad weather to get to a gig.  The plane was a very fresh G4, "The most advanced business jet aircraft," with all of the latest radar, etc..  However, the pilot was using an app on the iPad to navigate the trip because it was better than what was in the jet.  He saw exact height, denseness, and location of clouds, whereas on the jet's radar system, it was approximations. He explained it simply: the iPad is better technology than what he had on the multi million dollar plane, so that is why he was using it. And he was so excited about it, he had to come back and show us... he was an evangelist for this killer app. He was a middle aged man beaming like he probably did when he got a big red bike under the Christmas tree when he was 8 years old.  He also had all of his charts on the ipad, so he did not have to carry around the 30 pound brick of paper that pilots usually are required to have with them at all times.  
The tablet has definitely made its way into the cockpit." (emphasis added by CB)


Is that not just amazing.
