[Fredslist] FAAN ALLERGY WALK

Hello Gotham!

 

Hope all is well.  My 3 year old daughter, Shae, has a severe dairy allergy.
If she eats or comes in contact with any food that contains dairy she
immediately goes into anaphylactic shock.  It has happened and it is scary!

 

My wife Tracie and I have done everything in our power to educate ourselves
to keep our daughter safe.  It is amazing how many foods contain dairy.

 

Did you know that some hotdogs contain milk.  I guess it brings new meaning
to the term "mystery meat" but who would have thought it?!  

 

On October 17, 2010, my family will be walking in Shae's name for the Food
Allergy Network in Hartford.  We are raising money for awareness and put a
face on this terrible and at times deadly allergy.  We want to raise
$1,500.00 and are almost there.  I have to say, for two people who are not
accomplished fundraisers this is a big accomplishment for us and we are very
proud!

 

If anyone from the Tribe is near Hartford, Connecticut and would like to
come out to support the event let me know.  There will be fun for the kids
and adults alike.  This is our first walk and it is really amazing what type
of activities they will have there.
