[Fredslist] Esther is Amazing

For anyone who wasn't able to attend the Gotham luncheon today to hear Esther Geizhels, you missed an amazing afternoon.

I have been hearing about how incredible Esther is and I've been looking forward to this afternoon for a long time. And I wasn't disappointed. What amazes me is how someone who has experienced the Holocaust can stand in front of a room full of people and in the span of one hour share not only the horror of her experiences, but the joy and comedy of falling in love . . . at age 70. How is it possible that someone can share such stories while a room full of strangers politely and quietly eat their lunch . . . and yet made us feel that it was not inappropriate.

Esther Geizhels is one of those rare people who possess great strength and grace . . . and are seemingly unaware of it.

The next time I have a rough day, I'm going to remember hearing what Esther shared with us . . .and what so many other survivors have bravely shared. And then I'll put things in perspective and remember just how fortunate I really am.

Esther, you have given us more than a history lesson today. You gave us a life lesson.

Thank you.

Ellin
