As the Gothamite with the shortest commute to Fred's office and Friars Club functions (I work in same 485 Madison and live 2 blocks from here and Friars), I assure you that I have been the most resistant to schlepping north.
I've also long been appreciative of those that come down and figured they did so because Manhattan is THE place for Everything ;+)
Well, I'm glad I went!
Was so easy that although we left half hour after official ending (since 20 of us were still there networking/enjoying) and was home by 9pm.
Great people that I've never met and rare quality time with those that I 'knew somewhat'.
Seems that all Gotham events are that way. Either wish you had gone, or glad that you attended, eh?

Subject: [Fredslist] Hinterland was easy
Not only did New Yorkers get an honorary hinterland member sticker but Judy and her colleagues made it really easy.
It took 1 hour from Lake Success in the middle of the sudden storm to Kona Grill in Stamford which was 19 exits from Bridgeport's tornado.
It was a beautiful night. Lots of food and friendly conversation.
I even got to spend 45 minutes on the way home one to one with Debbie Linder. :)
Warmest regards
