Hello Gothamites,

Last Thursday, the Gotham Young Professionals hosted a Wine Tasting at Ciaobella, and what a fabulous night it was! The event was attended by over 20 members and guests and was a huge success, owing a great deal to Arielle, Dan and Alex Myers who organized the event with the restaurant Ciaobella (1640 Second Avenue, at 85th Street, Reservations: 212-802-5587) that graciously hosted us with amazing food and service in their roomy upstairs dining space (which is available for private parties and events).

The night started off with a round of Prosecco during which Wine Consultant Alex Myers (who chose the amazing spread of wines to follow), introduced the crowd to the nuances of wine picking, tasting, pairing and most importantly, enjoying drinking a good wine. The appetizers - veal meatballs, charcuterie and a crab cake were exquisite and were paired with a quartet of Italian whites, one of which, a Reisling from Northern Italy, proved to be a top crowd pleaser.

The second course was a sumptuous duo of homemade pastas that delicately complimented an incredible quartet of reds (of which the Pinot Noir was my absolute favorite). Following that, by which time we were all quite full, we were served a main course of absolutely delicious Chicken Marsala. The conversation around the table was everything about from the wines, to the world cup.

To round off the night we were served an outstanding tiramisu with biscotti and a juicy glass of Moscato.

The night couldn't have been any more wonderful, it was a truly memorable dinner.

I would, on behalf of the group, would like to take this opportunity to thank Alex Myers and Dan Myers for being so open and helpful with putting the evening together and for hosting us with their charm and expertise. A very special thanks to Arielle Myers for prompting and organizing this event on behalf of the Young Pros.

On a final note, I would also definitely recommend you all check out Ciao Bella or any of the it's sister establishments, Per Lei, Baraonda and Bella Blu, all on the east side. To reiterate, the staff were wonderful and the food was excellent. The atmosphere was charming and warm, and the private dining room with attached terraces is an amazing spot to host a private event: http://ciaobellanyc.com/ciaobella.html

Thank you and best wishes,
