My husband had the pleasure of meeting him at St. John's alumni gatherings.
In addition to being an integral part of NY Yankee history, he was a very
nice gentleman.  We were sad to hear the news and send our condolences to
you and your family, Mikel.

And he will be remembered. All should know that he (via recorded voice) is
still the voice that introduces Derek Jeter at Yankee Stadium.

To all you Yankee fans, my uncle, Bob Shepard, the  Yankees announcer, has
passed today.  When I was 7 years old, too young to understand the magnitude
of the privilege, he took me into the dugout to meet the players in the days
of Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford.  He will be missed.
