Founded in 2004, the East River Development Alliance (ERDA) is an innovative nonprofit
organization located in Long Island City, Queens (fifteen minutes from Midtown Manhattan)
working to transform and improve New York City public housing neighborhoods by providing
residents with the tools and opportunities necessary for self-sufficiency and economic mobility.
ERDA’s Workforce Development Program aims to create opportunities for public housing
residents to work in jobs that pay a living wage and are connected to meaningful career paths.
Clients are provided with on-going case management and support from job search to employment
retention. The Workforce Development program currently seeks a Business Accounts Manager.
Responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with ERDA WFD team (5 staff) to ensure 15 job placements per month.
• Implement a job development strategy based on labor market data, job seeker needs, local
economic development projects, transportation access and available training; includes
engaging local businesses, ERDA’s “Hire Local” initiative.
• Continuously improve the ERDA brand and benefits of partnership to employers and
business associations by:
_ creating a portfolio of employers who will provide sustainable job opportunities
for unemployed clients
_ maintaining on-going job placement opportunities
_ providing career ladder/growth opportunities for workers
_ placing jobseekers in high-wage, long-term jobs
_ developing and implementing retention strategies for clients
• Identify entry level to mid level jobs (with career ladders) for area residents including
immigrants and residents with limited skills, educational attainment or work history.
• Plan networking events and on-site open house events for employers and job seekers and
organize annual job fairs.
• Attend HR & Business networking events (early morning and evening) to meet business
contacts and identify new job opportunities
• Work with ERDA WFD team to interview, screen and match clients to identified jobs.
• Identify opportunities for advancement for those currently working
• Track employer correspondence and participant activity in ETO Database.
• Assist Program Director with placement documentation for contract reporting.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
• At least 2-3 years experience in sales, marketing, or related field
• Sales-oriented with excellent networking skills
• High level of organization and quick response with emails, telephone calls, and time
management.
• Excellent time-management and communication skills
• Flexible and creative
• Entrepreneurial, high-energy
• Committed to social justice and outcomes oriented; looking to make an instant impact
