[Fredslist] another scam alert

Marc,

Be aware...the "gold lock" icon is NOT fool-proof.

1) SSL sessions have been hijacked

2) Many legitimate vendors use expired or weak certificates

3) Visa's own VERIFIED BY VISA online marketing system encourages vendors to mix secure and insecure webpages together for marketing purposes.

In short, that icon may be a lie.

Only shop at trusted vendors and most of all, keep and eye on your creditcard/debit card activity.

I strongly recommend getting/using 1 low-limit card (choose your definition of low-limit) card for online/phone and daily purchases.

Keep the other cards safe, and as backups.
