Hello Gotham,

We have rescheduled the special wine "trade" tasting that was supposed to be tomorrow night. Sorry about the late notice. Many of you could not make it and requested that we change the date.

The new date will be Tuesday May 20th at 6:30 pm at Mac's Steak House in Huntington.

For those of you that missed the email last time, here it is again.

I have been working getting us some Gotham discounts at different wine stores. The owner of Citiwines (and a renowned importer), Mitchel Nathanson, has offered to give a “trade” type tasting to Gotham members at a very low cost. At this informal tasting, we will be able to try about 15 of the stratospherically highly regarded 2005 vintage Bordeauxs (along with some sparkling wines and Burgundys that Mitchell imports). The date will be Tuesday May 20th at about 6:30 pm at Mac's Steak House in Huntington.

This will not be a long sit down dinner and only cheese and bread will be served. You will be tasting many wines that have sneaked under the radar screen of Robert Parker and Wine Spectator. These will generally be early maturing wines that can be purchased in the $30 to $75 range.

We will need about 40 people for it to be worth it for Mitchell Nathanson to do this. He will do it at his cost for Gotham members, likely about $40 to $50. You will also be able to order these wines directly from Mitchell at a very reduced cost. Do not miss this event.

Mitchell asked me to forward his email below.

Please let me know ASAP if you can attend.

Thanks, Paul

Subject: BORDEAUX-THE ORIGINAL CABERNET SAVIGNON--ON SALE NOW!!!
Dear Paul,
Nice to see you this am at bagel store. Please allow me to summarize and offer a few things regarding the trade tasting. This is the email ad we just sent out last week and my few words below about the 2005 Bordeaux vintage etc. These words say it all in a nut shell  please pass it on to your members and friends.

My proposal:
If Mac’s has the space upstairs avail on this Tues April 29th. You have approx 40+ members. If we can have at least 25 people join us I figure a min charge of  $45 per head attending: from this (but we need a good min # to attend). I will cover the charges at Mac’s. I will bring at least 15 bordeaux mostly 05, some 03/04 and I will bring two brut or three cuvess of my new champagne Fallet Dart to taste. And some of the grand cru 1999 Castagnier burgs that sell at $46.95 less discount offered here.

We will name the group so that anytime one of them shops with the store they receive a special discount beyond normal. The special rate will be <20%> for wines offered in the store from stock. There are a few items offered net no disct and that is their status. Special orders are quoted on a case purchase basis, with a similar discount. And for this sale only:  with me NO SALES TAX   (in the future we must discuss how).

Also, I will offer from my wholesale DI list any new chateaux we are offering with a similar deal but without samples, unfortunately. If possible yes. The problem is we must get moving on this. Feel free to repeat this email to anyone, no secrets among friends.

I will call Mac’s now to check it out. If you need me my cell is 516 456 2780

Best regards, Mitch
Paul thanks for the idea and offer. I will arrange delivery to everyone for their convenience or they can pick up at my home

2005  Bordeaux The Best Value and Quality in Red Wine in The World!

ON SALE NOW!!

I have been in the wholesale wine trade since 1973, and a wine importer
specializing in French wines, since 1981.  During my tenure in the wine
business I have tasted many young vintages and 2005 by far is the Greatest
Ever!

I recommend you purchase 6 bottles or more, of mixed selections of Chateaux
such as Bordeaux AOC, Haut Medoc, Medoc, Pauillac, St. Emilion Grand Cru and
others, of different current vintages, and see how different they are from
each other, while at the same time how consistent in quality and complexity.
They have always been, and still are, the best buy in quality and stylish
red wines in the world!!!
These Cru Bourgeois / St. Emilion Grand Cru Chateaux produce wonderful
drinking wines, with individual styles and complexities, at consistently
reasonable prices.  The 2005’s are super wines.  Several are enjoyable now
but most will taste much more mature in 6 months or longer. 2003 & 2004 are
great wines that are ready now.  At Citiwine, the retail prices for these
wines range from $16 to $45 a bottle, on sale now at 5% discount on 6
bottles and 10% on 12 bottles or more (mix and match). Most can be enjoyed
between now and five years+ from the vintage date and many of these more
complex, sophisticated Chateaux can be aged for ten to fifteen years, and
more.
To quote Joe De Lissio, (wine director and general manager of The River Café
at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge) at our tasting several weeks ago:

"Bordeaux is the original, and remains, the king of Cabernet and Merlot."
