For what it's worth, I have served as an expert witness in three matters.
Two involved real estate market valuation (when I was a RE broker in
California in the late 80's) and once rather impromptu admission as an
expert during testimony regarding a slip-and-fall (for the defense - based
upon my experience during my 10 years in the luxury hotel industry). That
was actually the most interesting, and the plaintiff's attorney tried very
hard to have my testimony stricken, but the judge stood firm (the defendant
eventually dropped her case).
Since then, no one seems to give a damn what I know about insurance . . . .
. Oh, well. So I guess I don't qualify for Gotham's Expert Witness Group
these days - but seeing all of this did bring back some very, very
interesting memories!
