Subject: [Fredslist] Gotham Green seeks to reach new folks

Gotham's newest group, Gotham Green, is now in formation. Gotham Green is a
group for those interested in the green business sector in New York City. A
number of Gotham members have expressed interest in this group, but we would
like to also reach more "non-members." Please let the appropriate people in
your network know about Gotham Green. Thanks for your help.

Below is more information about the group.

A definition of a green business from the nonprofit organization Co-op
America is, "Green businesses operate in ways that solve, rather than cause,
both environmental and social problems. These businesses adopt principles,
policies, and practices that improve the quality of life for their
customers, their employees, communities, and the environment."

The preliminary mission of Gotham Green is:

*	allow green business people in the New York City metropolitan area
to network with and provided support for other like-minded people
*	offer educational opportunities on green business topics, such as
green marketing, funding opportunities or alternative energy, through the
use of featured speakers at meetings
*	become another voice for green business concerns in our community

However, this mission is a work in progress that will be finessed with the
members of the group once it is formally established.

There will be an initial luncheon meeting on May 24, 2007 for anyone
interested in the new Gotham Green group. T
