What a gift to hear Esther¹s message of healing and hope. I was profoundly
moved as Esther recounted
the story of parting with her mother.

I was born in a DP camp of two survivor parents, so very different from
Esther. My father was a successful
entrepreneur but lived a depressed life, full of rage, fear and paranoia.
Never able to overcome the damaging
effects of her experiences, my mother, approaching her 78th birthday, is a
perennial eleven year old. When I ask
my mother about the war, she says only ³I don¹t remember.²

The bits and pieces I did hear and my unhappy childhood, with little family
and less support, are the basis of a
book I began years ago and have decided to finish this year. People today
need to be reminded of the legacy
of war, especially in our very troubled times.

Today¹s lunch was truly an uplifting occasion. Brava to Esther! An
extraordinary graceful and courageous woman.
