[Fredslist] a weird request from Anthony Bellov

Hi on this RAINY and dismal day - - the perfect day to put out this weird
"All-Alert." WARNING: This is going to sound REALLY bizarre...
The Merchant's House Museum in Greenwich Village, as I'm sure you all know
by now, installs full Victorian mourning for a special exhibition each
October. In keeping with their mission to interpret NYC history with as much
accuracy as possible, last year they added a recreation of a mid-19th
funeral service to the schedule. It was a smash success and they are booked
to do it again this year - conduct a service, carry the coffin out of the
House and walk it to Marble Cemetary where a special tour will be conducted
for the "mourners."
Due to NYC bureacracy and general foot-dragging by the Parks Department, the
coffin promised the Museum will not be ready in time. This is a serious
setback for the Museum. We are putting out an all-points bulletin to try and
find anyone who might (strange as it seems) have a spare antique-looking
coffin handy which they would be willing to lend, donate, or sell for a
moderate price to the Museum.
I know this seems weird but it's totally on the level. Any leads or help in
this matter would be ENORMOUSLY appreciated. The Museum is really behind the
8-ball with this situation.
Feel free to contact me - Many, many thanks,
Anthony
