Join POA for its Summer Concert!

The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, led by its Artistic Director and Founder, young Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra, will perform at El Museo del Barrio on August 21st, 2007 at 7 P.M.  

POA will highlight an operatic repertoire featuring award-winning Puerto Rican tenor Joel Prieto León, who will perform a collection of songs by also Puerto Rican composer Rafael Hernandez as well as arias by Mozart, Rossini, Leoncavallo, and Tosti. The program will also feature Beethoven's compelling Symphony No. 7.   

Joel Prieto León has established himself as one of opera's most promising young tenors. In the 2006-07 season, his first season with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, his roles at the house included Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette, the Italian Singer in Der Rosenkavalier, and Froh in Das Rheingold.  In the 2005-06 season he sang Arlecchino in I Pagliacci with Opera de Puerto Rico, a concert of Berlioz works with the Orchestre de Paris at the Palais Garnier, excerpts from Gluck's Armide and Iphigénie en Tauride at the Opera Bastille's amphitheater, and a concert at the Lourve.  

 This will be Joel's first appeareance in New York City.   Between Joel's talents and POA's dynamic and powerful energy, this will be a night to remember!
