Public kudos and thanks to Mike Landrum for setting up such an extraordinary
day-long experience for those of us who signed up for and attended his
Gotham Hudson Valley event on Saturday.
The day included a morning guided tour through the DIA:Beacon contemporary
art museum; lunch in the DIA café; a side trip to an artistic glass
(glass-blowing, cutting, creating) factory and shop; a caravan of cars to
Storm King, the mostly outdoor sculpture museum (150 large sculptures on 500
acres, plus some indoor exhibits), including a docent-led walk as well as a
multi-car tram expedition to some of the more remote regions of the venue;
all capped off with drinks and dinner in a private room in the American
Bounty Restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America cooked, served, and
managed by chef-students at this prestigious cooking school. Mike organized
it, made it all happen, and pulled it off with style, and for a very modest
price considering what was provided.
It also was great to spend the day with some old Gotham friends and some
newly-made ones.
I strongly urge that next time Mike invites you anywhere, for anything, you
should graciously accept the invitation, because he puts on a heck of a
show.
