Hi,
I am working with the Mayor's office for Disabilities in promoting entrepreneurship among the disabled. One of the key challenges that home bound (non entrepreneurial) and/or disabled men and women have is access to the Internet. In many cases it is the sole method of staying connected to the outside world.
I am hoping we could recycle computers and get Verizon or Cable to donate internet access services to this population of people. The computers should be pentium 3 or 4s and the hard drive needs to be scrub.
Another option is an introduction to sources of gently used, refurbished, or never used but returned computers [e.g. Dell] that might not sell as well and can be donated or sold at far below wholesale.
Does anyone have access to both Internet companies and hardware companies willing to help in this endeavor.
If so please contact me and I will get you in touch with the right people associated to the mayor's office and an advocacy group for disabled tranisitioning back into the community.
thanks
Warmest Regards
Ester Horowitz
