[Fredslist] Criminal Attorney Needed in Orange County Florida

Hi All,

I received this email from my cousin lat night.  His wife's 16-year old brother, Krahe (pronounced Cray) has been held in Orange County Juvenile Detention Center without bail or assistance from the public defender.  They need an attorney in  Orlando that specializes in Juvenile Criminal issues. Krahe has never been arrested and Given the situation (see below), I fear for his life. I would be most grateful for any leads.

This is my understanding of the altercation on 6/17/06. I have attached all documents in our possession pertaining to Krahe’s case. Krahe Peah was a passenger in the Mazda in which Curtis Isaac was driving. Their vehicle was side swiped by the victim’s car. Both drivers pulled over. Curtis and Krahe got out of the vehicle. Curtis grabbed a bat from his vehicle and caused damages to the Ford van, which he has admitted to. Krahe did not physically attack Mr. Bell or his vehicle. Krahe was shaken up and scared. The passenger side, where he was sitting, was the side struck by Mr. Bell’s vehicle. Krake is only 16 years old and has never been arrested.

 

He is being held at Orange County Juvenile Detention Center. They are holding him without bail and without a public defendant for, as they stated, up to 21 days or until charged. While being held, there was an incident with a guard. Krahe was lifted off the ground by his neck and choked until he passed out. After arguing with officers at the Detention Center, Krahe’s mother finally persuaded them to file a report and call child services. Coincidentally, this unwarranted attack took place in a blind spot and was not viewable from any of the security cameras.

 

Krahe now fears for his life. He is being called a snitch by other inmates. He has even seen guards bribe inmates with candy to beat up on other inmates. In reading the Sheriff’s Office statement, there seems to be conflicting stories and the officer(s) seem to be speaking from belief and not fact in order to make their case stronger. There is an extreme sense of corruption in the Orange County justice system and we fear this experience, if given the chance to escalate, will change Krahe for the worst.

 

At the present time, 10 days after the arrest, there is no public defender assigned and they appear to be dragging their feet. There is word of trying him as an adult. We were hoping for free assistance but action must be taken immediately to prevent further damage.

 

Please help me find a good reasonable-priced attorney in the Orlando area. We have no extra money so any attorney fees will be coming out of our wedding money.
