The Bat Report:

After 2 rain-outs and 2 non-weather related cancellations, the Gotham
Batmen played their third game of the season, against the #3 ranked
(5-1) Wolfpack last night, for a final score of Wolfpack 11, Gotham
Batmen 8.

The Batmen took a first inning lead, and then went down by one run in
the top of the third, only to regain a 5-3 lead on Pitcher Ron
Castaldo's home run in the bottom of that inning. The Batmen allowed
only one run in the 4th, thereby maintaining the lead until a rough 6th
inning, when the Wolfpack scored 6, making the score 10-6.

Wolfpack scored one last time in the top of the 7th, but the Batmen came
back strong, scoring 2 more in the bottom of the inning, making the
final 11-8.

The Batmen showed real promise against a strong team, and after having
had a month off they pulled together for their best game of the season.
There was a strong showing by all who played, and some of the plays of
note included:

The three pop-fly catches by right fielder Fernanda Franco;

Excellent pitching by both Ron Castaldo and Liza Arfin (Liza pitched an
excellent game despite being put on the spot by being asked to pitch
without warm-up);

Strong base-running by Todd Baker and Jared Turco;

The three-run home run by Ron Castaldo;

And the rally in the bottom of the 7th that led to two runs during the
final out of the game.

Best Regards,
