[Fredslist] Don't Forget D-Day!

Fellow Gothamites:

Sixty two years ago today, at dawn, the incredulous Germans awoke 

to find a sea covered with Allied ships. Operation Neptune, the 1st
phase 

of the Overlord plan to liberate Europe from the Nazi's, was underway.

 

By day's end, the American troops of the U.S. 1st and 29th 

divisions suffered over 2,000 casualties at Omaha Beach in Normandy,
France.

At some point today, please bow your heads and ask for God's blessing 

on the wonderful and valiant servicemen who lost their lives on this
day,

so very far from home.

 

God bless them for allowing us to know the freedoms 

we enjoy, that might not have been, but for their bravery, 

valor, and the sacrifice of their lives.
