[Fredslist] Vacation in Europe 10/18-29 helpful insights needed

Have booked quite a fast paced trip (2 of us and some friends) and would be delighted with any do's and don'ts, shopping, food/ restaurants, average weather to be expected, currency exchange basics, planned tours vs. improvised tours etc.  I realize this is a big area but ANYTHING offered up would be great. 

Itinerary (via Air France) :

10/18- 20 Barcelona Spain staying H10 Marina Hotel 

Cruise Splendor of the Seas to the following ONE DAY ports and then back to Barcelona:


Marseille, Nice ,Florence, Rome and Naples
