Our nanny's purse was stolen along with her (our) cellphone.  Replacing it
or cancelling the line will cost several hundred dollars.

Does anyone have a used Verizon cellphone sitting in a drawer that you want
to sell cheaply?  The nanny prefers to use her own cellphone so it's fine
if this phone is barely functional.  Once it is connected it will go back
to sitting in a drawer.
