[Fredslist] NJ Auto Insurance Question

Does anyone have any suggestions to the following problem a friend's 
daughter is having?

Car leased in NJ.  The car was stolen.  The insurance co paid fair market 
value for the car but the leasing company is still requiring the remaining 
4 lease payments to be paid.  She did not have GAP insurance, which I know 
in NY would have covered this expense.  Anyone have any suggestions?  If so
