Baseball season started yesterday with the composition of the middle school team. This year, sixteen boys and one girl.

The girl on the team has been playing since she was little and really, really wanted to play on the boys team. She had to pass a physical test that the boys did not but she didn’t care. She wanted to play.

Last year, she tried but didn’t make it onto the team. This year, success.

I have known this young woman since she was just a little girl and have always been impressed with her determination (although I do worry some about how she may be treated by some of the boys). I am confident she is going places.
