I took last Friday off and went to lunch with Joanne. Rather than going to our regular haunts we tried to be creative and she suggested that we have lunch on the top floor of Lord & Taylor in Manhasset on the "miracle mile".
As we entered the store my mind flashed back some 60 years to the time that my mother brought me there to buy my treasured Hopalong Cassidy suit, complete with chaps and Sixshooter.
When we got to the restaurant the receptionist guided us to a table in the corner, but I insisted upon sitting by the window overlooking the parking lot and the rest of the miracle mile.
The menu was a very feminine bowl of soup, half a sandwich, cold drink and a cup of yogurt. Being that my mindset was that I was going to a "ladies" lunch I readily agreed to the menu choices.
Once we had ordered I scanned the room and realized it truly was a "ladies" lunch, because there were only three men, including myself, in the entire room which was populated by many many ladies.
To top it off, I looked out the window into the parking lot and spied Flo Feinberg, wife of fellow blogger and set up man Ben Geizhals, and shopper extraordinaire (owner of Refined Finds) getting out of her car in the parking lot.
My next move was to call Flo on her cell phone and say to her that there was a "rumor" that she was entering Lord & Taylor.
Needless to say, she was soon sitting with us at the table and my "ladies" lunch was perfectly complete!
